Skirt – A-Wear @ ASOS
Clutch – ASOS

Horses & leopards, oh my! Got my eye on lots of leopard print things lately, including these wedges which I currently love and loathe all at the same time. Thank you Mother bear for taking the first two photos. She doesn’t even read my blog, but she still wants credit!

Peter Jensen A/W 2011 Lookbook Shoot

Posted on March 24, 2011

Posting an A/W collection feels wrong considering there have been a lovely few days of sunshine in Preston. (Consecutive days of sunshine in Preston are a rarity and something to celebrate.) However, these gorgeous photos of Peter Jensen’s A/W ’11 collection are too good not to share. The collection, inspired by Anna Karina, was shot by Autumn de Wilde in Hollywood and while Jensen’s retro aesthetic isn’t always one that appeals to me, I am in love with it here in these photos.

I’ve been missing taking photos as much as I used to and I think this may send me over the edge and get me back out there with my camera.

Anything catching your eye in this collection?

Spring Wishlist

Posted on March 3, 2011

So I shared a little collection of images that are my inspiration for Spring, now here is my wishlist! Sadly it is only a wishlist and I’ll probably end up getting about one thing, if that, but a girl can dream!

Top Row: 1, 2, 3 – All Topshop
Bottom Row: Aldo, Topshop Unique, Kurt Geiger

Topshop is the bane of my life. Despite them seeming to get increasingly expensive, it is still one of the only, if not the only highstreet shop I’d happily spend lots and lots of money in. They just make things I really like and want to wear. I also love wedges. I don’t get along with heels much, I just find them hard to walk in, where in wedges I can happily go for a run in and wear them for hours. I am also a little in love with these too.

Top Row: Motel, Asos, Primark
Bottom Row: Kate Kanzier, Zara, Aldo

The first dress would not suit me at all, I’m far too ~busty~ but it’s nice. Makes me wish my style was more pin-up. Been searching for the cream Primark dress for ages since seeing it on Blair‘s blog but no such luck yet. Brogues are another favourite of mine but I prefer the heel to be flatter like on these two pairs. I’m also still on the hunt for a nice blazer. This Zara one may not be it, but it’s very cute.

Top Row: Asos, Topshop, Topshop
Bottom Row: River Island, French Connection, Topshop

I would die in those shoes but I LOVE them. Someone needs to teach me how to be a lady in heels.

Lauren Moffat

SO out of my price range and definitely being on the verge of being too twee even for my liking but absolutely delightful!

I started this post a week ago and then the next day I had that little mini-shopping spree! Wishlists are bad haha!

What are you wishing for? Any items you definitely want to add to your wardrobe for Spring? A blazer, a blouse, some new brogues and a pair of day wedges are definitely on mine. I find I don’t own enough shoes or tops and own lots of skirts!

New York Fashion Week Favourites (Pt. 2)

Posted on February 18, 2011

So NY Fashion Week is over and London Fashion Week begun today. Yay! My favourite shows are always at LFW. Maybe it’s a bias, ha. Anyway to round off NYFW, I thought I’d do a part 2 of my favourites.

Marchesa (Full Collection)

‘Decaying opulence’ is how this collection was described and I can buy into that (well, metaphorically anyway. I’d physically buy it if I could..) The dress on the left just made me think of Lydia from Beetlejuice and totally appeals to my inner Burtonesque-side. I love that these dresses are gorgeous and opulent but with that decaying, gothic baroque feel. The lilac dresses in the collection are just so utterly pretty.

Yigal Azrouël (Full Collection)

Particularly loving the cream jumper there, it’s nothing innovate but I want to wear it. Again, I’m just loving the tailoring and silouhettes. I am definitely attracted to clothes I’d wear when I have my dream figure i.e. no alcohol gut. Some nice pops of colour in this collection and all very wearable.

THIS HAT. THAT COLLAR. With red lips and a cackle and I am totally Cruella de Vil. (Marc Jacobs)

Honourable mentions: The fun and the HAIR (!!) at Jeremy Scott and colour blocking from Julian Louie.

NY Fashion Week Favourites

Posted on February 14, 2011

Before I start, hello! I’m back and I come with a new blog layout that I made myself this time. It turns out doing 4 modules in one semester is not fun, especially when you are a very unorganised and lazy person, so my mental attitude has changed lots and I seem to be turning into my mother and making lots of lists and writing myself little post-it notes to keep myself in check!

I wanted to coincide restarting my blog with launching my proper website but that’s taking longer than expected, mostly due to my indecisiveness about my portfolio.

Anyway. New York Fashion Week. It’s slightly hard looking at A/W collections when you are craving spring like a crazy woman and making mood boards of spring inspiration and lists (I told you, it’s getting bad!) of spring wants and things to do! However, a quick look at the hail outside put me in a frame of mind for coats once more. I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite outfits from my favourite collections at NYFW.

DKNY (Full Collection)

Wearability factor, yay! This collection looks like it’s straight from the pages of a street style blog or book. I really enjoy the tailoring and utter city chic of this collection. What annoyed me about a lot of the collections so far this season is designers seem to be sending models onto the runway in clothes that just look like they fit. There’s oversized and then there’s big and unflattering. I’m glad the trend has been bucked here as I adore the classic cuts, the layering and sharpness meets slouchy look. I am completely in love with those lace up booties as well! Basically, I wish I dressed this cool.

United Bamboo (Full Collection)

Coat heaven! Another collection of some great outewear. Particularly love the first coat on the left, the shearling shoulders are just perfect and these are clothes I could actually imagine wearing when it’s cold! Also very much to my winter colours of choice. Lots of neutrals. Love the grey tights. Just love this collection.

Jason Wu (Full Collection)

This collection is full of gorgeous little details. I love the mix of tailored pieces and utterly feminine yet still structured pieces. This is another very wearable collection that looks classy and there are clear Chanel and Valentino inspirations here. I could own this whole collection, it would get you through any situation. I love the neutral colour palette with the blocks of blue, red and that lime green. Lush!

Honourable mentions: Gorgeous girlyness from Erin Featherson, though I’d wear a lot more of her collection in S/S rather than A/W; wearbility and simplicity from Zac Posen’s cheaper line Z Spoke and some lovely silouhettes at Cushnie et Ochs.

Part 2 coming soon!

Do you have any favourites from NYFW so far?

A Mini Autumn Wishlist

Posted on August 24, 2010

I am not a summer hater but I am a British summer hater. It’s rainy, windy but also warm and sticky and a little bit cold at the same time. If I can’t enjoy a bit of sunbathing in the garden with a nice glass of pimms, I don’t want to know. Despite enjoying the sun, I HATE dressing for summer. I am a tights and knitwear kind of girl and I can never embrace getting my bare legs out!

This year’s A/W collections are so up my street. Lots of minimalism and classic colours. Chunky knits, chunky shoes, chunky coats. YAY!

Shoe Wishlist

Clockwise from top-left: River Island, ASOS, ASOS, French Connection, Carvela, Kate Kanzier

There are lots of shoes that I lust but this is a list of shoes would legitimately work for me and my wardrobe. Except maybe the Carvela heels. They are gorgeous and I’d love to strut around in them like a drag queen Dorothy but I don’t get along with heels!

There are lots of nice boots out at the moment but I have short legs and chunky calves and don’t wear trousers so I really don’t need to look stumpy by hiding my ankles! I wear lots of black and neutrals and these shoes would be a perfect addition. If only eh? I will hopefully get a pair or two from my list.

Clothes Wishlist

l-r: All Topshop

(I don’t know if it’s my autumnal bias, but I’m sure Topshop do MUCH better a/w collections than summer ones.)

I could easily have put together a page full of knitwear I want. I refrained. I’ve eyed up this cream knit the last two times I’ve been in Topshop. I like it a lot. But if it’s chunky and knitted, chances are I want it. if it’s chunky and knitted with BUTTONS, well if I don’t own it now, I SHALL! Then a couple of jackets that have caught my eye. The far right is unlike anything I own as smartish and more tailored than things I usually buy. However, I love it and it’d make a nice jacket for days or nights where I feel like looking sharp.

l-r: Reiss, Topshop Boutique, American Apparel

For tops, I’m big on neutral and minimal. I love the shirt from Reiss, though it’s a little out of my price range at £89. It could possibly be worth it considering how wearable the style and colour of it is but I can’t afford to drop that in one go on one item! The Topshop dress is also way out of my price range at £150 but definitely inspiration in my hunt for a nice dress. I love the a-line skirt style.

Also, possibly boring but BASICS. Ok, I’m basics mad. I like things that I can wear a lot and wear with everything. I really want to stock up on some V-neck tees to throw on and some cashmere vests for layering!

Other things I’d love: Knitted tights, socks, chunky statement jewellery, a pair of black jeans (I never wear trousers, this is big for me) and an animal print skirt.

And if I was rich?

One day right? Think positive!
