Skirt – A-Wear @ ASOS
Clutch – ASOS

Horses & leopards, oh my! Got my eye on lots of leopard print things lately, including these wedges which I currently love and loathe all at the same time. Thank you Mother bear for taking the first two photos. She doesn’t even read my blog, but she still wants credit!

Hi I’m Michelle and I’m a little bit ridiculous..

Posted on February 27, 2011

Yesterday I got up and got dressed with the aim of going into town to go to Primark, buy a white t-shirt for a friend’s birthday next week and come home. Well. I picked up some extras. I also took a detour to Topshop… I ended up coming back with 4 dresses, a pair of trousers (I haven’t worn trousers in about 2 years), 3 rings and a necklace. (I got the t-shirt too.)

I told you I’m ridiculous! I have no self-restraint! Even student discount can’t numb the pain.

I blame it on the fact I haven’t been shopping since before Christmas and I spent yesterday constructing a Spring Wishlist post for this blog and found myself just dying to buy some new clothes!

Left: Dress – Topshop, £28 (worn with Asos belt & shoes) | Right: Dress – Topshop, £36

The dress on the left just made me all excited for spring. It’s a little bit short so I may be scared of wearing it without tights but I pretty much always wear tights anyway unless it’s boiling. The dress on the right is a little darker in real life and it’s so cute and comfortable and I think it looks quite flattering as well.

Then comes the dress I’m a little unsure about.

At the beginning of April I am going to my uni’s sports ball, a fundraising ball for all the sports clubs at the uni (I’m part of the snowsports team) and so I’ve been on the look out for a dress. I didn’t actually want to buy something this soon as I’m trying to lose weight at the moment and wanted to find something in a couple of weeks but when I saw this dress over at Sarah’s blog I knew I had to try it as it was something a bit different to what I usually wear. Not black or neutral for one!

Dress – Topshop, £42 (ouch :/)

I like it but I’m not sure if; 1. The colour blends in with my hair too much and makes me look like a fool and 2. I could find something a lot more flattering. In real life I feel the top half makes me look like a bit of a cushion and I think it draws attention to the fact that I don’t have much of a waist. What do you think?

primark trousers being a fool
Trousers – Primark, £12

Look, see, I did buy a white t-shirt. It was the only thing I bought yesterday. ;) I did not go on a mini-spree! YAY for denial!

This is the first pair of trousers I have bought/owned in over 2 years (except loungewear/pyjamas) and I seemed to find it hilarious. “How do people pose in trousers? My legs are so short. I can’t stop thrusting!” were among the things I was telling my poor flatmate who I forced into becoming my photographer. There are so many nice trousers around lately. Over winter, I tried some on in New Look but I just found nothing sat right on my hips and short legs. This pair from Primark were a winner though, especially at £12. Though now I want some chunky heels!

They are a bit big when standing but I love them.  It’s been so long since I’ve seen myself in trousers though that I find it quite weird seeing myself in them.

Rings – Topshop

Please send cheap, party dress links my way as I’m still on the hunt for a ball dress!

What have you bought recently?

A little bit of shopping

Posted on September 8, 2010

I acquired a new bag this week after some ‘gentle encouragement’ from a friend. I never normally spend much money on bags it has to be said, but I fell in love with this little leather beauty from Topshop. The colour is lush, it’s got room to carry notebooks and it will go with pretty much everything I own so I feel I can be forgiven…until it falls apart because it’s from Topshop.

I also acquired some shoes from my wishlist.

They are from ASOS and they make me feel tall, plus I can walk in them (!) and they are actually quite comfortable. I am wearing them now, even though I am just sitting at my laptop in leggings and a giant t-shirt (i.e. slob wear) – I like them that much. I think I just like the feeling of having longer legs, it makes me feel graceful even if these are the clumpiest, noisiest shoes to walk around a wooden floor in. Will try to get a photo of them on.

No more spending for me for a while!

Thanks Emma Bridgewater!

So for ages, I’ve been thinking of typing up recipes or writing loads down in my moleskine to help me eat healthier when I’m at uni and also to remember/note down some of the concoctions I come up with. I enjoy cooking, I just get a bit lazy.

While having a gander in Selfridges, I saw this gorgeous little folder which I opened to find tabs and recipe pages! It also has a section for wine but I don’t think I’m going to get much use out of them. Whatever is cheap at the shop isn’t much of a meal accompaniment.

I got a little bit excited but at £15 my notebook/casual WHSmith ringbinder was looking much more appealing. However, my mum knew they sold it in Sainsburys and right now Sainsburys are doing lots of baking things for half price (I know this because one evening my mum came in with a bagful of various sprinkles, cake decorations and disposable piping bags!) so she bought it for me for £7.50 which is a lot more reasonable.

It is the sweetest thing ever. It has some conversions in it, a couple of pages for dinner party planning, a page showing when some fruit and veg are in season plus a page with kitchen essentials (and space to write your own in). Oh and everything is decorated with hearts. Love!

I may like you a lot now Emma Bridgewater, but I am definitely going to have to stick my own name over yours. It’s my recipe book after all, plus I know I’ll get sick of people asking me who Emma Bridgewater is and what I am doing with her recipes!

What are your kitchen essentials?
