Something for the Weekend #8

Posted on July 22, 2011

  • Celine Dion orders a tumblr sharing ‘ridiculous’ photos of her to cease & desist. Have a laugh Celine!
  • Photos of Marilyn Monroe as girl-next-door Norma Jeane
  • The reality of blogging while working a full-time job
  • Calling all fashion/beauty/lifestyle bloggers: add yourself to Hayley’s map (I don’t live in Mile End, I was just very vague)
  • Don’t Fear the Internet is a site that aims to teach basic HTML & CSS to non-web designers. This could be good for all you bloggers out there who wish they knew more to tweak their own layouts.
  • Speaking of HTML & CSS, I love this t-shirt so much!
  • As if I need another food porn website to follow
  • Honestly WTF provide such great DIY tutorials. I love this one for wrap bracelets
  • Parma Violet Cupcakes!

Blogs to follow: Arched Eyebrow, Park & Cube

  • Spontaneous dance party!
  • Offline love: Food, my bed, listening to birds out of my bedroom window rather than Preston chavs, being reunited with the xbox 360, feeling a lot more peaceful than I have been (too peaceful, still have work to do!), waking up and not feeling grumpy, wireless internet, wonderful friends at home and at uni, really appreciating where I live despite all it’s flaws.
  • Blogs to follow: Katiecakes, The Blog Stylist & Lauren Woodward.

I hope you’ve all had lovely weekends and bring on the bank holidays!

  • This giant wooden xylophone is delightful. I was a little sad it was for an advert but hey, it’s good advertising.
  • Like typography? NYC Type is a blog for typography found in New York.
  • Bears. Trippy.

Just a short one this weekend. I have been working hard and also allowing myself a little celebration in the sun as I got a first for an assignment that caused me LOTS of stress this year (and nearly broke my laptop) so I’m beyond happy. It came at the right time as a well needed pick-me-up.

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine!

  • Comic Relief last night was great. Always tugs at the heart strings. If you can, please donate.

Today I will be cheering on England to win the Six Nations with a grand slam. As always, I hope you have a lovely weekend too.

Hope you’ve all had a fab week. Here are some things that have caught my eye this week.

  • Still no Chini though!
  • Before I Die…
  • It’s a motherhumping PIRATE bedroom. How amazing would this be if you were 10? (How amazing would this be now?!)
  • 24 hours worth of live panel shows today on the BBC for Comic Relief. I can’t wait for celeb juice!
  • Easy, cheap DIY for the home. Pretty bottles!
  • The Dior F/W ’11 collection is gorgeous. While I completely agree with Galliano being fired, it’s hard to think who can take over and keep the Dior look as strong as he did.

Have a lovely weekend!

Not too many links this week as I’ve been trying to not procrastinate and focus on getting my work done for the D&AD awards. Working in a group definitely pushes me. In a good way!

What’s caught your eye on the internet this week and what are your plans for the weekend?

I will be watching the rugby at the pub tomorrow. A sport I enjoy for all the wrong reasons.

Something for the Weekend

Here’s a collection of things that are occupying me this week! Hope they give you some entertainment over the weekend!

Coffee That Always Late by ILoveDoodle

  • If you ever played gameboy or ever wished you could, you will love Playr. No need for an emulator, play and save games such as Pokemon Crystal (!!) online.
  • Tastespotting is really ruining my life. It’s a good thing calories can’t be absorbed from photos, but they can be absorbed when I make everything on my ever-growing ‘to bake/to cook/to EAT’ list.
  • I love organising my inspiration on Pinterest. I have some invites, so if you’re interested, let me know in the comments (and leave your email address).

  • (Above) I love these seats made from recycled materials. Could be a great DIY project for someone crafty with lots of scraps of material lying around!
  • I LOVE this miniature paper house to sit over a laptop webcam! What a cute idea. Hello Alice in Wonderland themed photo booth pictures!

Adele’s performance here gives me goosebumps. 21 is a great album, her voice is gorgeous and I think she is beautiful!

  • Use burnt out light bulbs to create a cool piece of art. Get me a soldering gun, stat! I’d love to hang these outside, like an extravagant, year-round bauble!
  • Kris Atomic is making me want dip-dyed hair
  • Gem at Fat Frocks is running a Pen Pal Exchange. Tell everyone you know and get them involved!
  • DIY Jewellery Display. This could be such a cheap DIY project and way of keeping your jewellery organised. I pin mine on my noticeboard but will definitely make something like this for at home.
  • Who is Arcade Fire?!! – Hilarious. I’ve been listening to Arcade Fire since Funeral was released, but this tumblr just cracks me up and baffles me at the same time.
  • This Justin Bieber meme (based on his appalling comments in Rolling Stone) is another one cracking me up this week.

Have a great weekend!
